The Irish Club of WA must be saved!
GoFundMe Campaign: Click here to Donate to the Irish Club's GoFundMe Campaign The Irish Club of WA was established more than 60 years ago, and has been in its current location in Subiaco since the ‘70s. Much like a sporting club, the “owners” of the Irish Club are you, the members. It is an Incorporated Association, run by a voluntary Management Committee elected by members each year at the AGM.
The object of the Irish club of WA is to promote Irish culture and heritage in WA through music, sport, dance, language, theatre, literature etc. The profile and the membership of the club have changed in recent years, but after numerous meetings and conversations with the Irish Community in Perth, there is still a strong desire to keep the Club and its tradition alive, and to maintain its role as a place for the Irish community to come together. Certainly, in this important year in Irish history – the 100 year anniversary of 1916 – the Club has a vital role to play in the calendar of events planned to commemorate the occasion, with many of the community based events being held in this venue. The Irish Club of WA is the home of many of your favourite Irish community groups: The Irish Theatre Players The Rose of Tralee The WA Golf Society The Australian Irish Heritage Association Comhaltas Perth O’Brien School of Irish Dancing Keady Upton School of Irish Dancing But here's the rub, they’re struggling to stay afloat. The financial situation was presented to the members in November 2015, and since then they have received lots of offers of assistance and support, for example, amazing members volunteering to work in the club, to paint , fix doors, redesign the website and more., and it’s been amazing to watch. The club has also managed to pay substantial amounts off the outstanding debt by restructuring the expenses of the club and reducing expenditure in certain areas.
But they still need your help...
