Bloomsday literary evening // AIHA

The AIHA present an evening for middlebrows!

The AIHA's annual Bloomsday literary evening celebrating the work of James Joyce with a focus on Ulysses, but including his other works. For 26 years this was presented as a formal event featuring celebrity readers and light opera music. This year there has been a literary uprising, as the event is swept up by the global commemorative program of the Easter Rising of 1916 in Dublin.

The Dublin-centric Ulysses is based on the 24 hours of June 16, 1904. And so this year Bloomsday Perth moves to the less formal venue of a public house with the grand musicality of the text backed up by Dublin ballads. Editors Colm O’Doherty and Sean Byrne will invite audience members to read selected scripts in character and Fred Rea will lead the rebel music. Regular performers will include Diana Warnock and Ric Hearder.

Venue: The Parlour Room of The Mighty Quinn Tavern, 112 Wanneroo Road Tuart Hill

Tickets: No Bookings required.

Cost: Free admission.

Food: Buy from the Bar and Kitchen. 7.00 to 9.30pm
