"We are the music makers, And we are the dreamers of dreams"

- Arthur O'Shaughnessy

A Sense of Ireland is presented by The Australian Irish Heritage Association (AIHA), and is the official event of the WA 1916 Centenary Commemoration. The highlight of the evening will be a screening of an 18 minute montage of the film 'Mise Éire' featuring the legendary score of Seán Ó Riada, which, on this unique occasion, will be played by a live orchestra.

A wide array of local Irish talent will also be on show during the evening, including the perennial upbeat Celtic fusion music of The Fling. Also taking to the stage will be the much loved, The Healys, Perth’s favourite sons of Irish folk music. Scoil Rince Ni Céide will showcase their extraordinary talent in a specially commissioned dance drama dedicated to the memory of C.Y. O’Connor. Another unique highlight will be an extract from Sean O’Casey’s, “The Plough and the Stars, ” performed by The Irish Theatre Players (ITP). Sarah Guilmartin (soprano) and Cian Elliot (tenor) will bring the nostalgic airs and melodies of our great Irish composers. Fergal Benson of the ITP will read The Declaration of the Irish Republic. Former International Rose of Tralee, Nyomi Horgan and acclaimed broadcaster, Gerry Gannon will co-host the evening.
